Art Indus - Profile

Art Indus, set up in 1997 at the elite Santushti Complex, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, was the result of extraordinary passion and insight into the field of art, stemming from a deep understanding of Indian culture and an artistic legacy that spanned generations.
The proprietor Vijay Lakshmi is an art connoisseur, an avid collector of antique textiles and contemporary as well as miniature art. Known for her discerning eye, she  recognized many a master long before they were proclaimed by the world, as the hottest names in the art market.

'Tribute to Mother Teresa' - A group exhibition showcasing works by Manjit Bawa, M.F.Husain, Paritosh Sen,Akhilesh,Shyamal Datta Ray,Jeram Patel, A Ramachandran, Haku Shah, Latika Katt, Nagji Patel, Robin Mondal, Shuvaprasanna, Shipra Bhattacharya et al

'The Probing Eye' - A Singular exhibition of photographs by eminent artists - Krishen Khanna,Rameshwar Broota,Anjolie Ela Menon,Jatin Das, Haku Shah,et al.
 'Invisible Order' – Art Indus Publication - A coffee table book on artist Haku Shah, edited by Dr Eberhard Fischer ,the then director and curator of Indian art at the Rietberg museum, Zurich.

'Amrit Sagar' - A group exhibition of eminent water colorists like Paresh Maity, Sanjay Bhattacharrya, Ganesh haloi et al, curated by Ratnottama Sengupta, Eminent columnist for the Times Of India.
 'Icon 2000'- A solo exhibition by Shuvaprasanna in collaboration with IGNCA(Indira Gandhi National Centre For Arts),inaugurated by the then German Ambassador to India.

 'Third anniversary Exhibition' - A group show by Adimoolam, Arpana kaur,Bhupen Khakhar, DLN Reddy,Ganesh Haloi, Jyoti Bhatt, KS Kulkarni, KS Radhakrishnan, Laxma Gaud, Manu Parekh, Madhvi Parekh, Paramjit Singh, Rameshwar Broota, Satish Gujral, SG Vasudev, Shamshad Husain, Sunil Das, Shuvaprasanna, Shipra Bhattacharya, Sanjay Bhattacharya,T Vaikuntham, Samir Mondal, Yusuf Arakkal, Vasundhara Tiwari Broota,Vinod Sharma, Vijender Sharma et al, in collaboration with Bazee.com inaugurated by Dr Karan Singh.

'Eighteen artists in Bangkok' - An interactive art camp. Participating artists were Jayshree Chakarborty,Jitish Kallat,Bhupen Khakhar,Rameshwar Broota,Prabhakar Kolte, Rini Dhumal, Suhas Roy, Veer Munshi, Yusuf Arakkal, Vinod Sharma, KS Radha Krishnan et al.

'Haman Hai Ishq' - An exhibition of works by Hakushah  on Kabir and a music recital by Shubha Mudgal, sponsored by The Ford Foundation, Holdeen India Programme, and The India Habitat Center.
 A solo exhibition of paintings by the late K.S.Kulkarni.

 'Art from the Land of Heart' - A group exhibition of abstract art from the Bharat Bhavan school, Bhopal,featuring artists like Manish Pushkale and Akhilesh.

 'Illusion Disillusion'- A solo exhibition by Vijender Sharma.

'Art Of Picture'-An exhibition of photography by the late Raja Lala Deen Dayal featuring unique works showcasing India's historical legacy by the Nizam's court photographer, inaugurated by Renuka Chowdhury, MP.

‘Journeys across foreign lands'- A solo exhibition by Jatin Das on his travels across the world.
'Arts In Art'- A group exhibition, paying tribute to the late Bismillah Khan Sahib, curated by eminent art critic Vinod Bharadwaj, showcasing works by masters and avant-garde artists like Subodh Gupta, Arpita Singh, Ambadas, Krishen Khanna, Manish Pushkale, G.R.Iranna,A Ramachandran,  Pratul Dash, B.M.Kamath, Shamshad Husain, Binoy Varghese et al.


 'Vision Beyond' - An Exhibition of Nine Photographers - the late Naresh Singh,Dinesh Khanna,Malkiat Singh,Nakshatar Lathar,Parthiv Shah, Pradeep Das Gupta,Shalini Saran,Saadiya Kochar and Sandeep Biswas.
‘Manush’ – An exhibition of paintings, collages and mixed media works by Haku Shah. This was a collaborative effort by CMAC, Art Indus, Aakriti and Tao.
‘Whispered Legacy’, - A  Publication accompanied by a retrospective exhibition of Late Abni Sen, edited  and curated by eminent art critic Ina Puri.
‘Black Brown & The Blue’ – A coffee table publication accompanied with a retrospective exhibition of Shuvaprasanna, edited by eminent art historian Sushma Bahl, text by Seema Bawa, Ina Puri, B N Goswami, Ralf Oestreich, Manasij Majumdar & Sushma Bahl. Exhibition inaugurated by Smt. Gursharan Kaur.The book was released by Kumari Selja, then Minister for culture, at the National Gallery Of Modern Art.
‘Interpreter Of Dreams’ – A solo exhibition of recent works by Lalu Prasad Shaw.
‘Personal Icons’ – A group exhibition of personal icons by Arun Kumar HG, Ganesh Gohain, Karl Antao, Pooja Iranna, Pratul Dash, Prithpal Ladi, Puneet Kaushik, Reghunandhan K, Santana Gohain.  
Art Indus has always maintained a fair balance in their presentation of  Masters and Avant Garde artists as also in their  service to present the best in Contemporary art in India. Blending the young and the old, the emerging and the established, it has served art in the spirit of devotion for all times.
